Highlights / General details
At 7:00am you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Sololá, a beautiful village in the highlands. The tour visits the market, where men and women wearing their traditional clothing come gather from the surrounding villages. Sololá is one of the few remaining villages where the majority of people still proudly wear their colorful traditional attire. The traditional attire is very historic and important as its variations represent different social and economic status and position of civil and religious hierarchies. The tour continues to Lake Atitlán, which Prussian explorer Alexander von Humboldt called “the most beautiful lake in the world”. The lake is surrounded by orchards and coffee plantations. Twelve Indian villages surround Lake Atitlan, and their inhabitants are descendants of the great Quiché, Cackchiquel, and Tzutuhil nations. Lunch will be provided at the Porta Hotel del Lago. Afterwards, the tour returns to Guatemala City.
